This first semester of implementing our PYP Units of Inquiry has been very exciting.  The teachers and students are doing lots of work on each unit that show that our students are truly becoming internationally minded people who inquire about the world.

Grandparents' Day was a huge success! Over 200 grandparents were recognized, celebrated, and treated to food, music, and fun!
  ]]> <![CDATA[Big Tree Planting Community Service Project!]]> http://www.saadallas.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=42643 http://www.saadallas.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=42643 Our students and staff partnered with the City of Dallas to plant over 200 trees in the West Dallas neighborhoods. There were many volunteers and city workers who made this an occasion we will never forget. Our students understand the importance of giving back to the community and were excited to participate in such a wonderful act of kindness. Planting trees is a major part of taking care of the Earth and the students and staff at St. Anthony were pleased to do their share in making sure that the Earth is well taken care of! We would like to thank City Forester, Karen Woodard for inviting us to participate in such a special event!

]]> <![CDATA[2010 Career Day was a success!]]> http://www.saadallas.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=41495 http://www.saadallas.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=41495 What an awesome experience our students had during Career Day 2010! Our students had an opportunity to talk with some of the top professionals in their industry. Doctors, Lawyers, Police Officers, Financial Planners, Dancers, Nurses, Investment Officers, Emergency Medical Technicians,School Administrators, and even a City Mayor! The students were able to get a better idea about what each profession does and what it takes to have a career.
 
Thanks again to all of the individuals that took time away from their busy schedules to share with our students!
 
A special thanks to our first grade team (Mrs. Handley,  Ms. Glass, Ms. Polk and Ms. Keller) who shared their IB Unit of Inquiry, " I Go To Work" with the entire student body!
]]> <![CDATA[8th Grade Leadership Retreat]]> http://www.saadallas.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=41296 http://www.saadallas.org/apps/bbmessages/show_bbm.jsp?REC_ID=41296 The 8th grade class of 2011 were involved in a Leadership Retreat designed especially for them. Our 8th graders traveled down 35 to Lakeview Camp in Waxahachie, Texas, where they spent a day and a half learning skills that they will use now and in the furure. Michael Brown with Experiential Solutions trained our students to maximize their leadership skills with activities that caused them to think and react like leaders. They were also trained on how to be team players with team building excercises. It was amazing to see how well the students responded to situations that many adults are not equipped to handle. Thanks to Experiential Solutions our students have the knowledge and skills to be effective leaders who can also be contributing members of a team!
